The Founder’s Motivation

The founder of the International Organisation of UN Volunteers (IOUNV), Amb Cosmos Yahzitere Okoh was inspired by his experiences growing up during the Nigerian/Biafran civil war. Witnessing how communal voluntarism helped people in his community and refugees survive the harsh war conditions had a profound impact on him.

Key Influences:

  • The Communal voluntary Program that maintained governance at instance of collapsed constituted governmental authorities and her provision of essential services that promoted voluntary farming activities and security.
